Article 1 (Purpose of Agreement)

This agreement defines the terms of use, procedures, and other necessary matters pertaining to registered users of the “Translators’ Cafe” on the Korean Literature Translation Institute (KLTI) homepage.

Article 2 (Definition of Terminology)
The terminology used in this agreement is defined as follows.
“Service” refers to the collection, appropriate classification according to respective purpose, summary, and provision of user information registered online via the “Translator’s Cafe” at http://www.klti.or.kr, and the utilization of user information provided at the aforementioned web address.

Article 3 (Registration Subject & Conditions)
① Registration is restricted to translators who are supported by KLTI (including the Korean Culture & Arts Foundation and the Korean Literature Translation Fund) and Daesan Foundation.
② Translators must register under their legal names; users not registered under their legal names waive all rights.
③ In the event that a user registers under another person’s name, the registered information will be deleted, and said user may be subject to a penalty according to relevant laws and ordinances.
④ Registered users are responsible for determining the factuality of their registered information.

Article 4 (Authorization & Purpose of Collecting Personal Information)
KLTI is authorized by the Freedom Of Information For Public Institutions Act, Protection Of Personal Information For Public Institutions Act, and the Culture And Arts Promotion Act to collect users’ personal information in order to record and preserve the ongoing work of translators and to share information.

Article 5 (Collected Personal Information Items & Collection Method)
① Required information is input and received by KLTI at the time of new translator registration. Translators are required to provide the information requested on the aforementioned site, including basic personal data (name, gender, nationality, year of birth) and data regarding literature translated (the language of publication, language pair, original title, author, translated title, year of publication, publisher, co-translators, and subject areas)
② In addition to required fields, users may also select to provide additional information, including other personal information, education, work experience, awards, translation fellowship, etc.
③ Registered information will not be used for any purposes save for those outlined in Article 4.

Article 6 (Storage & Disposal of User Information)
Registered information will be stored at KLTI and used for service provision.
However, in accordance with the process detailed in Article 9 (Viewing, Revision, & Deletion of User Information) of this agreement, translators may delete their own registered information.

Article 7 (Sharing & Provision of Personal Information)
Translators’ required information is available to public users; registered users can select privacy options for the elective information outlined in Article 5, Item 2.
KLTI strictly adheres to the Protection Of Personal Information For Public Institutions Act in the use and provision of personal information, and will not make improper use of users’ personal information.

Article 8 (Technical Management for the Protection of Personal Information)
Personal information registered in the “Translators’ Garden” is password protected. The account password is known only by the account holder, and that password is required to confirm or change personal information. Accordingly, account holders should not reveal their password to anybody. They are also advised to log out and close the browser window after completion of work. This procedure is especially advisable when using a shared or public computer in order to prevent personal information from being viewed by another person.

Article 9 (Viewing, Revision, & Deletion of User Information)
Registered users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time.

Article 10 (Laws for the Protection of Personal Information)
All personal information managed by KLTI is authorized by the Protection Of Personal Information For Public Institutions Act, or collected, stored, and handled in accordance with the approval of the information holder.

Article 11 (Reporting Violations of the Protection of Personal Information)
In the event that information is discovered that raises concerns for potential infringements upon the interests of an information holder, such as a possible leak of personal information while using the “Translators’ Cafe”, the incident should be reported to the person in charge of the KLTI “Translators’ Cafe”.
